Capital Development Authority (CDA) Has Bestowed 200 Plots To OfficersMonday, June 25, 2012
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has bestowed 200 plots on its deputationists and other officers in the prime I-8 sector of Islamabad.
This allegation is raised by the general secretary of Collective Bargain Agent (CBA) Chaudhry Yaseen. He further said that the higher officials of CDA have held several meetings at Convention Centre and Islamabad Club before allotting plots worth Rs 4 billion. He said that his union demanded plots for retired and in-service employees working in civic agency for over 10 years but management never bothered to entertain this demand.
According to rules, residential plots in developed colonies cannot be allotted to any employee as they are for sale through open auction. Chaudhry Yaseen has appealed to Chief Justice to take suo motu notice of these illegal allotments and laid down a uniform policy for officers and employees in the CDA. I-8 is one of the most developed and costly areas and the plots could have been auctioned to earn handsome amount.
Yaseen warned that if allotment will not be cancelled, the union will start protesting against the management. Chairman CDA said when contacted that he is not at all aware of plot allotments because he was not in the country. However, he assured that he will look into the matter himself and cancel the allotments.
Another CDA employee told that officers were trying to get apartments in Sector I-8 due to its prime location. He further said that back in 2007, 400 plots were allotted in one day as the depot of government transport service in the same sector was converted into residential plots.
