HIGHLIGHTS
ABOUT BAHRIA TOWN LAHORE
The great historical city of Lahore, located along the banks of the River Ravi, is the cultural heart of Pakistan. Lahore, also known as the city of gardens, has urbanised over the years and grown into a modern metropolis home to millions of people. The city has witnessed significant economic and infrastructural growth, with some of the biggest names in the real estate industry launching mega projects in the city. One such example is the real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, who, after the success of Bahria Town, Rawalpindi, decided to expand his portfolio by launching Bahria Town, Lahore. We can confidently assume that the most compelling reason behind developing a project of this unprecedented scale in Lahore must have been the growth of businesses and the influx of multinational firms, causing people from across Punjab and Pakistan to move to Lahore in search of better job opportunities. Also, Lahore is the second-largest city of Pakistan, after Karachi, in terms of population, making Bahria Town, Lahore, an excellent investment opportunity.
Bahria Town projects are developed and managed by Bahria Town (Private) Limited, which is a real estate development company. What makes different ventures of Bahria Town genuinely unique is that they are self-reliant and have never sought funding from the government. Yet, all of them have managed to delight investors and property seekers with a housing society that matches and surpasses international standards of infrastructure and comfort.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call Bahria Town, Lahore, a city within a city. Besides rewarding investors and genuine buyers, the project also opened new avenues for employment in Lahore. With over 200,000 customers nationwide, Bahria Town enjoys the title of being the most extensive member base in Pakistan and the largest real estate developer in Asia. Their first ever project was launched in the late 90s, 1997 to be precise, in Rawalpindi as the only gated community in Pakistan at that time. Since Bahria Town, Rawalpindi was such a huge hit among both local and foreign investors, Malik Riaz launched a similar project in Lahore in the mid-2000s.
The unique feature of Bahria Town, Lahore is its Greco-Roman inspired architecture and infrastructural planning. The roads, green belts, and palm trees make you feel as if you are in Dubai, while the monuments and landmarks take you straight to Rome. The security of the project is undoubtedly the best considering how each street is patrolled by armed guards and 24x7 monitoring of the society from different angles via CCTV cameras. Also, one has to go through a couple of security checks before entering the gated-society.
Considering the number and scale of facilities, amenities, benefits, and security offered by Bahria Town, Lahore, it’s no surprise that the modern luxury villas and apartments in the project were sold like hotcakes and are still considered one of the safest and most bankable investments in the city. Since the residential community is mostly home to upper-middle and upper-class people, the society is regarded as one of the poshest areas in the city.
In comparison to other posh areas of Lahore, such as DHA, Bahria Town boasts an added advantage of being a gated community. Those who invested in the project in its initial stages bagged the properties at unbelievably low prices. By the time Bahria Town, Lahore, was completed, the prices of properties shot up more than 3x, translating into an unbelievable ROI for investors and buyers. Even today, properties in Bahria Town, Lahore, are highly in demand and considered a lucrative and sure-shot investment.

SOCIETY EVENTS

Bahria Town, Lahore is not just about the aesthetics, architecture, and security, but is also about community living. The urban designers and recreation specialists working with Bahria Pvt. Ltd. have fostered a sense of community by having a dedicated department to organise events and gatherings on special occasions. Bahria Town does not let any festival go without empowering its residents to enjoy it to the fullest, be it with an amazing display of fireworks and sky lanterns or various festivals to celebrate independence, Eid, and the New Year. These events are open to the public, and people from across the city come to enjoy musical concerts, food, games, and the countdown to New Year as the sky lights up with fireworks.
NEARBY AREAS
Even though Bahria Town, Lahore, is self-sufficient in terms of amenities and recreational activities, it still enjoys nearness to a few famous landmarks in Lahore. For example, Lahore Wildlife Zoo is located towards its north-east, whereas Pakistan Medical Housing Society is on its east. Similarly, you can locate Sharif Medical City Hospital and Sharif Medical and Dental College on the southeast side of Bahria Town Lahore, while Sukh Chayn Park is towards the northwest and The Great Mall Canal Gardens is towards the north of the society.
Lahore Wildlife Zoo is an excellent place for animal lovers. If you have kids, you must take them to this zoo to help them get close to wildlife. Lions, tigers, peacocks, zebras, ostriches, macaws, deer, horses, and quails are some species present in the zoo. Also, a part of the zoo is dedicated to a kids’ playing area with slides and rides. Also, Sukh Chayn Park, located in Orchard Avenue, Block B, Sukh Chayn Gardens housing scheme, features an exotic collection of birds and the Mavi Mosque, commonly known as the Blue Mosque since it is inspired by Turkish architecture. The minaret is 130 feet high, and the mosque has a total of 49 tombs. The chandeliers and glasses in the mosques were imported from Turkey. The interior of the mosque was hand-painted by experts.
Sharif Medical and Dental College, established in 1997 on Sharif Medical City Road in Jati Umrah, is an excellent choice for students wanting to major in dentistry and medicine. The Great Mall in Canal Gardens, Block G, E Boulevard, is a marketplace offering affordable and quality products, particularly fruits and vegetables.
THINGS TO CONSIDER
It would not be wrong to call Bahria Town a city within Lahore. With the integration of schools, theme parks, community parks, hospitals, colleges, landscapes, malls, restaurants, and various retail centres, residents here enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. Bahria Town, Lahore is master-planned, and it has proven to be a winning combination with every facility within easy reach of residents. However, despite all the positive aspects of the society, it does have a few drawbacks. The main disadvantage is the traffic jam one has to face daily, especially in the evening, when residents are coming back from work. It can take 30 to 40 minutes just to get through the jam at the entrance and then drive to the blocks. The second con of living in Bahria is the commute to the central city, where the majority of the offices are located. The last con is probably the lack of fueling stations within Bahria Town Lahore, causing residents to travel outside the society to refuel their vehicles.
RESIDENT'S TAKE ON BAHRIA TOWN LAHORE
Two residents of Bahria Town Lahore had similar views and experiences of living in the area:
"Bahria Town is providing all the amenities which guarantee peace of mind. Water filtration plants, parks, zoo, canal, mosques, 24/7 security, schools, banks, restaurants, everything is there to ensure a quality lifestyle. The best part is their top-notch security which is a major relief knowing that my family resides in a secure community while I am away from home. They charged me a mandatory 25K while building the house for a security system. It has been installed at all exit points of the house, when I turn it on, if any of the exit points are accessed, the system triggers and the alarm in house rings and an alert pops up at Bahria's security centre. I have not experienced such high standards of security by any developer in Pakistan. A major con about living in Bahria is that the entrance from Canal Road creates a huge traffic jam during morning and evening office hours, school time, and Jumma prayer time. There is at least 30mins delay just to enter or leave Bahria Town during these times."
