The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, also known as HEC, is the primary government body responsible for the development of the higher education system in the country. It was established in 1947 as the University Grants Commission. However, in 2002, it was revised into HEC under the leadership of the commission\u2019s founding chairman Dr Atta-ur-Rahman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HEC works under the Government of Pakistan to fund, oversee, regulate and accredit the universities and other degree-awarding institutes across the country. Some of the most noteworthy functions of HEC include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
