Named to honor the late King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, Shahrah-e-Faisal is one of the longest and most popular freeways in Karachi<\/a>. It\u2019s a staggering 18 kilometers stretch of road, starting from the locality of Malir, running all the way to the Karachi Cantonment area. Shahrah-e-Faisal was formerly known as Drigh Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire route of Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi, has been dotted with business centers, hotels, corporate headquarters, and offices, which is why it is used by a large number of commuters regularly. According to an estimate, more than 250,000 vehicles travel through Shahrah-e-Faisal on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To facilitate the travelers, this major expressway has been equipped with a well-carpeted road and state-of-the-art infrastructure including flyovers, pedestrian bridges, and underpasses. It also connects the entire city with the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi<\/a>, which greatly adds to the importance of this freeway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jinnah International Airport\u2019s Intersection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting from the eastern end of the road, which begins from the localities of Malir<\/a> and Shah Faisal Colony, if you\u2019re traveling on Shahrah-e-Faisal, the very first intersection you\u2019ll come across is of Karachi Airport. It allows you to take a right turn to enter the Airport Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic coming from the opposite direction can simply take a left turn to head towards the airport. There are also a couple of bus stops nearby. Also, note that Shahrah-e-Faisal serves as one of the most prominent routes for public transport in Karachi. Rashid Minhas Road\u2019s Intersection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An underpass has been constructed on the intersection of Rashid Minhas Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After a 5 to 7-minute drive, you\u2019ll reach the intersection of Rashid Minhas Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal Road. From here, if you have to travel towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar<\/a> or areas beyond such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal<\/a>, Federal B. Area<\/a>, or Nazimabad<\/a>, you can take a right and get on the flyover.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otherwise, continue with your route on Shahrah-e-Faisal crossing the underpass. At a few-minute drive from this intersection, there are a couple of fuel stations, located on the left side of the road. The road tilts a bit, now heading in the south-west direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Route Fact:<\/strong> This intersection on Shahrah-e-Faisal is also popular for the presence of Drigh Road Railway Station<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Karsaz Road\u2019s Intersection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The very next entry\/exit point on Shahrah-e-Faisal is its intersection with Karsaz Road. If you want to exit Shahrah-e-Faisal from here, you can simply take a slight left and get on Karsaz Flyover, which will further take you to KDA Scheme 1 and Stadium Road, which has been named after National Stadium Karachi. Another fueling station on Shahrah-e-Faisal is just a short stroll from Karsaz Flyover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baloch Colony Flyover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you are continuing with your journey on Shahrah-e-Faisal, after maybe a 5-7-minute drive, depending on the flow of traffic, you\u2019ll be greeted by Baloch Colony Flyover. It\u2019s undoubtedly the most famous landmark on this expressway in Karachi. It is used by thousands of cars on a daily basis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By taking a slight left, this flyover allows you to exit Shahrah-e-Faisal and continue with your journey on Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway if you want to visit areas like Defence View, DHA Karachi<\/a>, Korangi, or Landi Industrial Areas. After crossing the Baloch Colony flyover, you\u2019ll enter the very important section of Shahrah-e-Faisal, which is considered one of the biggest corporate hubs in Karachi due to the presence of many office buildings and business avenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip Sultan Flyover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The recently constructed Tipu Sultan Flyover allows traffic to flow freely on Shahrah-e-Faisal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Facilitating the entry\/exit point between Tipu Sultan Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal is Tipu Sultan Flyover. This infrastructure project has been constructed just a minute drive from Baloch Colony Flyover. Tipu Sultan Flyover is only a one-way flyover, used by the traffic heading towards the Airport or Malir Cantt from the area of Saddar, Karachi Cantonment, or other south-western parts of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shahrah-e-Quaideen Flyover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With many bus stops, fuelling stations restaurants, and even hotels, the core corporate district of Shahrah-e-Faisal will continue to escort you all the way to Shahrah-e-Quaideen Flyover. After reaching it, take a slight left to get on this flyover, continuing with your journey on Shahrah-e-Quaideen. This road will link you to the area of PECHS and SMCHS. After the flyover, the first intersection of Shahrah-e-Quaideen is with Tariq Road, which is one of the most popular shopping destinations in Karachi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Route Tip:<\/strong> Please note that the intersection between Shahrah-e-Faisal and SMCHS is only accessible by the traffic heading towards the airport and is of no use for traffic heading towards the Karachi Cantonment Area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FTC Flyover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Named after the Financial Trade Centre (FTC), FTC Flyover is constructed at the intersection of Korangi Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal. It only facilitates the traffic on Korangi Road traveling towards Shahrah-e-Faisal as well as Saddar Town. You can simply take a left turn at this intersection to get on Korangi Road, which will connect you to different phases of DHA, Karachi as well as Korangi and Landi Industrial Areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry\/Exit Point Near Regent Plaza<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After crossing the FTC Flyover, there\u2019s also an entry\/exit point near Regent Plaza. By taking a left turn here, you\u2019ll exit Shahrah-e-Faisal and get on Rafiqi H. J. Road, and on the opposite side of the road, it allows the traffic coming from Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Road to get on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Daud Pota Road\u2019s Intersection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once you\u2019ve crossed Regent Plaza, you\u2019ll finally enter the Karachi Cantonment Area. If you want to get to the Karachi Cantt Railway Station<\/a>, you can simply use the intersection of Dr. Daud Pota Road and Shahrah-e-Faisal. Take a left turn at this point to exit Shahrah-e-Faisal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This intersection has also been equipped with an underpass, which facilitates the traffic on Dr. Daud Pota Road, connecting the areas of Saddar Town and Karachi Cantonment. Shahrah-e-Faisal then merges into Club Road near Avari Towers and Quaid-e-Azam House Museum<\/a> where Zaibunnisa Street and Fatimah Jinnah Road also intersect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
