As soon as summer season arrives in Pakistan, most people head over to the northern areas of Pakistan to see the heavenly views of the mountains. Pakistan has many tourist destinations in its northern areas most of which have been developed and commercialized to facilitate tourism while some are still unknown to many. The country is also home to the world\u2019s second-largest mountain peak \u2013 K2, also known as \u2018the savage mountain\u2019. Many trekkers and climbers visit Pakistan every year to summit the K2 peak which is a tougher climb than the tallest peak of the world, Mount Everest. To facilitate the tourists further, the government of Pakistan has installed a cellphone tower in the K2 base camp area to improve the communication services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly installed cellphone tower in the K2 base camp area of Concordia will improve the means of communication for tourists and trekkers visiting the place. The 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) has been made operational to enable cellphone communication and access internet-based services to stay in touch with the outer world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site where the tower has been built is named \u2018Ali Sadpara\u2019 after a renowned Pakistani trekker and climber. The cellphone tower in the K2 base camp area will also help the groups of trekkers to stay in touch with the teams at base camp and seek assistance in case of any emergency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than using the tower for communication purposes, it will also be used for weather monitoring in the area to advise the climbers beforehand. The site was inaugurated by the prime minister of Pakistan on his recent visit to Gilgit-Baltistan. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) along with telecom operators are making efforts to improve cellphone communication in most visited tourists\u2019 destinations in Pakistan. Making the telecommunication services available near the world\u2019s second-largest peak with the help of the Special Communication Organization (SCO) is proof of promoting and facilitating tourism in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current Government of Pakistan is doing its best to make Pakistan known as a tourist-friendly country in the world. Home to dozens of beautiful sites in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan areas among other destinations, Pakistan also has five of the fourteen above 8,000 meters peaks in the world. Summiting gigantic mountains, trekking, skiing are some of the activities that give an adrenaline rush to all the tourists. Other than these there are a lot of adventurous sports that one can find in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you move south, you will find plenty of beaches and islands in Sindh and Balochistan province for water sports such as scuba diving, snorkelling, cliff diving among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

K2 \u2013 The Savage Mountain<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

K2 is one of the fourteen peaks higher than 8,000 meters altitude and the world\u2019s second-largest peak. It is also the deadliest to climb because of extreme weather conditions at such a height, especially during the winter season. It remained unconquered in the winter season until January 2021 when a team of 10 Nepalese mountaineers attempted the K2 winter summit<\/a> and finally conquered it in extreme weather conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also called \u2018the savage mountain\u2019 because of its notoriously challenging climb. The climbers need to be very skilled and use the proper gear including oxygen cylinders to scale the mountain and make a successful ascend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the installation of a 4G BTS, the communication of trekkers with the base camp will be easier and convenient and they will be able to contact quickly in case of emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
