Just a few more days to go before one of the biggest problems of urbanization is addressed with affirmative strategy. With the rise in population, the demand for commodities also rises and personal transport has become one of the necessities in Pakistan. The number of vehicles on the road has an indirect relation with the number of parking spaces in a city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue of parking a vehicle in the business centres of a city has become a great issue but Capital Development Authority (CDA)<\/a> takes lead in timely addressing the issue by taking the initiative to establish multi-storey parking plazas in different business centres of Islamabad. The construction of these projects will begin towards the end of August this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a document issued by CDA, about 350,000 vehicles enter and leave the capital city daily on average while the number of vehicles owned by the residents of Islamabad is almost the same. The number of vehicles in the city is increasing every year because of the people\u2019s spending power on new vehicles. It is about time the government took appropriate measures to combat the issue of parking in Islamabad, especially in popular commercial areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said initiative will be commenced later in August this year. For now, six projects will start simultaneously in different business centres of the city. Out of these, three will be built in Blue Area, one in the F\/10 sector, one in the F\/8 sector<\/a> and another one in the I\/8 sector of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trend of shopping malls across the country is on the rise which are often huge in size. Even though these malls have dedicated car parking areas, these do not fulfil the requirement of the parking of a commercial market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported by one of the country\u2019s leading newspapers, all major shopping centres and plazas are required to have basement parking. Instead of using this space for the right purpose, most of these are being used for other commercial purposes which causes alarming traffic situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking space in a commercial market is designed according to the area of the commercial and the number of shops in that area. Unplanned developments in commercial markets become another cause of parking and traffic issues. For instance, the traffic flow in the market of eight to ten shops will lower as compared to the market that has 40-50 shops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Establishing multi-storey parking plazas is a smart and more efficient way of utilizing a small area. Vertical developments conserve space and offer more in less and CDA\u2019s step to building these facilities for the public will do that and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction of these parking centres will feature principles of modern design techniques that will be in line with the standards of the capital city. Following will be the features of these parking plazas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
