Update (Dec. 02, 2021): <\/strong>The government of Punjab will organise two separate events: one in Kahuta and one in Kotli Sattian in the Rawalpindi district of Punjab to inaugurate the development work on the Tourism Expressway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The construction work on the highway project will kick off in December. Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar will perform the groundbreaking of the 123km-long Tourism Expressway. This was recently decided in a high-profile meeting between the concerned federal government officials and key parliamentarians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the beginning of the construction work, the Tourism Expressway is expected to be completed within 18 months, according to the initially communicated timeline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upcoming \u2018tourism expressway\u2019 is going to stretch from Rawalpindi to Murree \u2014 and further up to Muzaffarabad, AJK. The road will serve as an alternative route between some of the key destinations in the region. According to the key officials working on the project, a section of the existing highway, which stretches 123 kilometres, would be reconstructed and widened from 13 feet to probably up to 24 feet.
