Green Line BRT Karachi is the state-of-the-art mass transit project inaugurated by the federal government. After its initiation and test run in early 2022, the metro bus system was handed over to the provincial government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the first one to become operational among all the other proposed metro bus routes to upgrade the system of public transport in the megacity<\/a>. Moreover, Abdul Sattar Edhi Line (aka Orange Line)<\/a> is also operational now, whereas development work is rapidly progressing on Red Line BRT Karachi<\/a>. The 112.9 km network of bus lines under the larger \u201cTransKarachi\u201d breeze project is quickly taking shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minimum fare of the Green Line bus service is PKR 15<\/strong> and the maximum fare is PKR 55<\/strong>. However, the ticket will always cost you PKR 55 <\/strong>for the entire Green Bus Karachi route, no matter the distance you are travelling. So, getting a Green Line Metrobus card would be a more economical option for daily users. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can buy this card for just PKR 100 and recharge it according to your travelling needs. Using this card, travelling via the Green Line Bus in Karachi would cost you PKR 5 per station, including the base fare of PKR 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once fully functional, it will facilitate over 300,000 passengers on a daily basis. Only one phase of the project is awaiting completion, as of January 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development Progress<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is feasible for a project as big as the Karachi Metrobus, which runs dozens of kilometres across different parts of the city, to be developed in multiple phases. So, the development work for the Green Line BRTS Karachi has also been carried out in different phases ever since its launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the work on two phases of Green Line has been completed. There will be another phase of the project which will connect Numaish Chowrangi to Tower. There will be three stations on this route. It is important to note here that Red Line BRT will intersect with Green Metrobus at Numaish Chowrangi\u2019s station. Both of these bus lines will take you all the way to Tower once the project is completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State-of-the-Art<\/strong> Command<\/strong> and<\/strong> Control<\/strong> System<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The entire Green bus line in Karachi is connected to a network of CCTV cameras and communication devices. The transport project is smartly managed by a state-of-the-art command and control system. According to the project\u2019s spokesperson, they can easily monitor all the stations and buses via the control centre. Having such a digitalised system in place is important to keep passengers and vehicles safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
