Ataturk Avenue, also known as the Embassy Road, is one of the busiest roads in Islamabad and also one of the most important arteries in the capital city. It not only provides access to Diplomatic Enclave and Pak Secretariat but also to the Parliament House and the Red Zone area. There is heavy traffic flow as most office-goers travel by this road on a daily basis. The increased traffic especially during peak hours creates congestion and grid-lock like situation on the roads. To maintain an uninterrupted flow on this most widely used artery in the capital city, the dualization of Ataturk Avenue is almost complete and the road will be opened up for traffic soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Embassy Road would be dualized from Khayaban-e-Suharwardy to Khayaban-e-Margalla, i.e. Ayub Chowk. The width of the avenue on both sides would be 24 feet having two lanes on each side. A bridge and two box culverts will be constructed on the 2.68 km long Ataturk Avenue. An elaborate system for sewerage would also be constructed. In order to facilitate people in their journey, signboards and lane marking would also be completed on the avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ataturk Avenue is one of the major arteries of the capital city where important housing societies are located such as G-6 and F-6, which are densely-populated areas. During peak hours, people often have to endure traffic choke points. In order to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow on the road, the dual-track of Ataturk Avenue was suggested in the federal capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a news report published in a local English daily in May, Chairman CDA Amer Ali Ahmed, along with senior officers of the Directorate of Roads, \u201chad instructed to introduce traffic management solutions at the State Bank intersection\u201d on Ataturk Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, to speed up the process, the relevant departments have been directed to complete the pending work on Ataturk Avenue and open it up for traffic. The carpeting of the road and the black-tar topping of the avenue is remaining after which the road will be opened for the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
