Named in honour of Abdul Sattar Edhi \u2014 Pakistan\u2019s most revered philanthropist \u2014 Edhi Orange Line was finally inaugurated on Saturday, Sep 10, 2022, by Sindh\u2019s Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the official details, buses would start commercial operations on Monday, Sep 12, 2022. This BRT service is a part of Trans Karachi Breeze, a grand-scale mass transportation project designed to cater to the transportation needs of the megacity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jinnah University Station of the Orange Line Station is just a short stroll away from Green Line\u2019s Board Office Station in Nazimabad, connecting the two BRT projects for the convenience of commuters. All of the metro bus projects in Karachi have a similar ticketing system. You can use the same transit pass to travel on any of these buses, which costs PKR 100. However, you may have to get it recharged according to the distance you travel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a total length of 3.9 kilometres, the Orange Line bus service is probably the shortest BRT project in the entire country. This metro bus project is designed to cater to over 50,000 passengers a day and is based on a fleet of 18 buses. At its AO Chowk Terminal, Orange Line BRT merges with Green Line BRT, which is another under-construction mega transportation project in the metropolis. The Orange Line Metrobus project in Karachi has recently been renamed as Abdul Sattar Edhi Line in honour of Abdul Sattar Edhi, one of the greatest humanitarians that have ever lived on earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inaugurated in 2016 by the Sindh Government, initially, the Orange Line bus project in Karachi was forecasted to be completed in a couple of years but the slow progress of the project resulted in several delays in its launch. But, the good news is that now the work on Abdul Sattar Edhi Line is complete and the bus service has started serving Karachiites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route of Abdul Sattar Edhi Line in Karachi starts from AO Chowk in Nazimabad and runs all the way to Nishan-e-Haider Chowk in the heart of Orangi Town. Along its 3.9 kilometres long route, there will be four stations, each constructed at a distance of 1 kilometre. The Orange Line track is a part of a mega-scale BRT system, which, according to its master plan, will run all over Karachi with a length of nearly 150 kilometres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
