About Takkar National Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) ruled in favour of establishing Takkar National Park in Sukkur District in June 2020, after agreeing to sponsor the project as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is still early days and not much is known about Takkar National Park\u2019s tours or tickets, what is known is that the park will span over more than 17,500 acres, comprising plains, deserts, and mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exact location of Takkar National Park is yet to be marked, but it is located in the area surrounding Kot Diji in Sukkur District. As the proposed site of the park is not close to any human settlement, it is expected that the flora and fauna will flourish, attracting not only tourists but researchers as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rohri Hills, Kot Diji Fort, and the city of Khairpur are currently the closest landmarks that might help you pinpoint where this park will be located upon its establishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Makes Takkar National Park Special?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Being the second national park to be established in the province of Sindh, that too, after 46 years from when the first national park\u2014Kirthar National Park\u2014was developed, gives this park a special status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its diversity in flora and fauna are other factors that will bring nature lovers from all over the country to this magnificent region where Chinkara deer, jackals, jungle cats, falcons, and foxes can be found in abundance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the establishment of Takkar National Park, illegal excavation and animal trade activities in the region will be curbed, and several endangered animal species will get a chance to thrive again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 1974, Kirthar National Park became the first-ever national park in the province of Sindh. What\u2019s more, it was also one of the first national parks in Pakistan, with Sindh being home to more than 300 types of birds, around 80 mammals and 100 reptiles, as well as 30+ wildlife sanctuaries.
