With a total length of 813 kilometres (505 miles), N-25 National Highway is one of the longest highways in Pakistan. It starts from Karachi, Sindh, and runs all the way to Chaman, Balochistan. The highway is owned and managed by the National Highway Authority (NHA)<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, the security and traffic flow along the entire route of this highway is controlled by the National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP)<\/a>. Linking some of the major cities in Sindh and Balochistan, the route of N-25 National Highway holds extreme significance for goods trading and intercity travelling. As of now, the route of N-25 National Highway (RCD Highway) starts from Shershah Colony, one of Karachi\u2019s famous urban localities located in the western part of the city. It runs along the Hub River Road in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travelling further north-west along the route, it leaves the territory of Sindh and enters Balochistan. This highway in Pakistan connects cities like Bela, Khuzdar, Kalat and Quetta along its hundreds of kilometres long route. N-25 National Highway ends in the city of Chaman, which is located near the Pakistan-Afghan border. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The road further continues into Afghanistan and is also used as a controlled access cross-border trade route. Quetta-Taftan N-40 Highway also merges into RCD Highway near the region of Hazarganji-Chiltan National Park, which further increases the significance of this roadlink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since this highway in Pakistan is largely used by people travelling between Quetta and Karachi, it is also popularly known as the Quetta-Karachi Highway. This also makes it one of the busiest highways in the entire country. For decades, a large part of this highway has been a narrow, double-lane road with traffic flowing in both directions. In recent years, some of the noteworthy infrastructure developments on N-25 National Highway have taken place. For instance, the road segment of RCD Highway in Karachi was upgraded in 2017 and street lights were installed along the route till Hub River bridge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, as per the latest updates on RCD Highway, Pakistan, the dualisation of the route is also being planned. The project intends to convert the entire Quetta-Karachi highway into a multi-lane route to ensure a smoother and safer flow of traffic. As of now, navigational sign boards and road markings on the road segment of RCD Highway running between Karachi and Khuzdar have also been upgraded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
