The launch of electric buses in Islamabad has been planned in multiple phases. As per the government officials, in the first phase of the launch, 30 buses will be brought into service. The new bus service in Islamabad will cater to around 48,000 commuters on a daily basis. According to the latest updates on electric buses in Islamabad, the project is jointly funded by Skywell Automobiles, a Chinese auto manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with many environmental benefits, electric buses are best known for their lower maintenance costs, with a marginal difference of up to 30 percent less than the diesel-powered vehicles. Furthermore, the authorities claim that running this new electric-powered bus service in Islamabad may result in saving 30,000 barrels of fuel, which is roughly around PKR 500 million a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service<\/a> runs on only one route. The track of this public transport service in Islamabad is based on two lines, starting from Saddar and running all the way to Pak Secretariat. This state-of-the-art bus service in Islamabad connects the twin cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are still many areas and localities around the capital territory that don\u2019t fall in the route of Islamabad Metro Bus. So, keeping in view the needs of the commuters living in these neighbourhoods, the authorities have planned the route of electric bus service in Islamabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
