Recommended depth of concealed beam?

What is the normal depth of concealed beam for the roof concrete slab? Is it possible to have concealed beam depth greater than the thickness of roof slab?

Concealed beams has little efficacy. It cannot be compared with other beams like T beam ( Latak beam ).

Regarding depth of beam more than the roof itself, I am not very sure. But I know that there is one beam known as over the slab beam. It is good. But if you have any door or entrance on that beam side, it will create hindrance.

Depends on the length of the room, concealed beam may be upto 10 Inches. But I will aagree with B.R Malik, over the beam will create hindrance

No hindrence at all if your beam is above the roof then it can also covered in the roof treatment which is also more than 6 inches so slab and rood treatment can easily cover. Thats why it is conceled beam which itself mean is hidden....

the beam.

It is usual thing and in so many buildings we handled such things.

For size it depends on your structure and can be suggested by the structure engineer.

Concealed beam depth can be 9".

6" in slab and 3" in floor finishes.
