Today in a grand operation supported by not just police but rangers, the CDA carried out an operation in I-11 and demolished the entire katchi basti built illegally. This action seems unprecedented as many people believed that moving these people was almost impossible. CDA now has plans to develop this area to permanently rid it from encroachments. Does this operation create hope for other stalled CDA sectors facing similar issues like g-14 and e-12?
This operation does not create any hope anywhere else.

One can wish but those slum dwellers will come back before CDA start any development.
If CDA is successful in clearing I-11, its credibility will get a boost no matter whatever is the reason behind this operation.
The real bottleneck is G-12, if they can clean it would really mean something
CDA isn’t interested at all in G-12. They have concentration on I-11, 1-12, C-14, C-15, E-12 and Park Enclave.
CDA need to open new sectors. Right now prices are so high that all budget gets used in plot buying, nothing left for making home for average buyer.
CDA and Housing foundation should repeat this model on G 14, E 12 etc, although the situation there is different because settlers have registry of their houses. But once CDA finals their Payment claims they should clear the area…
People who obstructed operation have been charged under the anti-terrorism act. If this is adopted as a template, clearing areas like G-14 and E-12 will become easier because that is where the real and notorious land mafia is really active. The big question is if this is really the beginning of something or just a one off exercise.

These places are being demolished under direct court orders. Plus there is reportedly a high level intelligence warning regarding security threats of a foreign sponsored terrorist strike in or around capital. Undercover agents of enemy countries are active in the capital. The recent raids on brothels are also part of the same development as some of those arrested were found to have links with foreign agencies. Dr Shahid Masood discussed this issue in his program 2-3 days ago and it is also being reported in leading news papers. So ATA law is being applied.
CDA never had the guts to undertake such an operation on their own and it was also a major source of their illegal income, taking "rishwat" from these slums. This is purely a security led operation.
