Islamabad: The federal government has announced a comprehensive plan to digitize the national economy, directing all ministries to implement concrete steps aimed at reducing cash-based transactions and eliminating the informal sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday. The premier emphasized that digitization is a key pillar of the government\u2019s economic reform agenda and instructed the immediate formation of a dynamic working group to oversee and accelerate the digitization process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stressed that reforms are being carried out at both institutional and coordinated levels to ensure sustainable, long-term impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials at the meeting briefed the Prime Minister on significant progress in digital infrastructure. It was revealed that an ICT application launched in the Islamabad Capital Territory now offers citizens access to over 150 government services. Additionally, usage of the State Bank\u2019s Rast digital payment gateway has increased notably, signaling growing public trust in digital financial systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government is also working with the State Bank of Pakistan to further expand digital payments for everyday transactions. All official payments, including salaries and billing, are already being processed through a digital framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
