Karachi: A high-level, seven-member delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met with Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Tuesday in Karachi to review the ongoing progress of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting focused on key areas of the project\u2019s implementation, including current construction status, technical and logistical challenges, consultant performance, and other operational issues. During the session, Minister Memon provided a comprehensive briefing on the various hurdles faced in the execution of the Red Line BRT, a major infrastructure initiative aimed at easing urban mobility in one of Karachi\u2019s busiest corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister highlighted that the BRT line runs through a densely populated urban zone, where utility relocation has posed a significant challenge to project timelines. He stressed the importance of the Red Line BRT, pointing out that the route will serve five major universities and benefit millions of Karachi residents once operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Memon also discussed the project\u2019s timeline setbacks, noting that work had been suspended for nearly nine months during the tenure of the caretaker government. This pause, he said, caused a significant delay in progress and pushed back completion milestones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the challenges, both the ADB delegation and the Sindh government reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring timely completion and successful delivery of the Red Line BRT project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
