Islamabad: In a bid to improve public amenities and urban infrastructure, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday announced a series of development initiatives, including a major revamp of Melody Food Street, the creation of a new food street in Blue Area, and a range of traffic and beautification measures across the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decisions were made during a high-level meeting at CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and attended by board members and senior officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the initiative, the CDA will modernize the iconic Melody Food Street with enhanced lighting, improved parking facilities, and strict enforcement of food quality standards through the Islamabad Food Authority. \u201cMelody Food Street is a landmark, and we want to ensure citizens enjoy high-quality food in a well-managed space,\u201d Randhawa said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, a new food street will be developed in Blue Area. The planned space will feature decorative lighting, landscaping, and dedicated parking to cater to both residents and visitors, offering more variety in Islamabad\u2019s growing dining scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also addressed traffic congestion, particularly in major commercial areas on weekends. CDA officials were directed to develop an effective traffic management plan to ease movement in city centers. To support auto-related business activity, designated vehicle bazaars will be established, offering a more organized marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Progress on other projects, including the Gandhara Heritage Club, was reviewed. Randhawa urged timely completion of the club and other ongoing works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the CDA\u2019s broader sustainability goals, faulty streetlights along major roads\u2014including Margalla Road and the Expressway\u2014will be replaced. The authority also plans to expand green spaces by planting more trees and adding floral arrangements along key roads such as Club Road, Faisal Avenue, and Jinnah Avenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are committed to making Islamabad a model city in terms of infrastructure and public facilities,\u201d Randhawa said. \u201cThe capital\u2019s development, prosperity, and beauty remain our top priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
