Lahore: The Punjab government\u2019s flagship low-income housing initiative, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar<\/em>, is gaining rapid momentum with the ongoing distribution of interest-free loans and the announcement of free residential plots for deserving families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Bilal Yasin, visited the Kahna area to review progress on homes constructed under the programme. Accompanied by PHATA Director General Sikandar Zeeshan, the minister inspected completed housing units and met with beneficiaries. Grateful homeowners requested the minister to convey their appreciation to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, calling the programme a life-changing intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during his visit, Bilal Yasin reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to providing affordable housing. He announced that interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million will be issued annually to 100,000 families for home construction. In addition to these loans, the minister revealed that free residential plots will also be allotted this year to qualified, low-income individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The housing initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Akhuwat Foundation, which provides financial and administrative support. During his visit to the Akhuwat office, Bilal Yasin met with applicants and beneficiaries, many of whom described the interest-free loans as an \u201cact of kindness\u201d that enabled them to achieve the dream of home ownership without falling into debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, over 34,000 families have received interest-free loans under the programme. According to officials, no complaints of corruption have been reported at any level, highlighting the transparency and accountability of the housing push.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials from the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) and Akhuwat Foundation were also present during the minister\u2019s visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
