Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recorded a significant 44% increase in revenue during the fiscal year 2024\u201325, collecting approximately Rs27 billion, compared to Rs18.9 billion in the previous year. The development comes as part of a broader effort initiated under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to strengthen public institutions through financial reforms and improved service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the LDA, this is the highest revenue generated in its history. The increase\u2014amounting to Rs8.1 billion year-on-year\u2014is attributed to a series of institutional reforms and proactive measures undertaken by the Authority\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Director General Tahir Farooq played a key role in driving this financial performance. He credited the growth to simplified regulations, improved facilitation for businesses, and the implementation of corporate-style governance under the Ease of Doing Business framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Authority raised Rs7.5 billion through land auctions and sales, conducting four auctions and three balloting events over the fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town Planning Wing emerged as a major contributor, generating Rs12 billion, which is Rs4 billion more than the previous year. Notably, the wing collected nearly Rs1 billion in penalties for illegal commercial activities\u2014marking the first time such revenue has been recorded in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DG Tahir Farooq stated that the Authority is committed to continuing this upward revenue trajectory in the new fiscal year by promoting compliance, facilitating investment, and curbing violations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with these efforts, the Town Planning Wing also intensified enforcement operations against illegal commercial constructions and defaulters of commercial fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials noted that these financial gains will enable the LDA to reinvest in urban development initiatives and enhance public service delivery across Lahore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
