Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched the \u201cEhsaas Apna Ghar\u201d scheme to provide interest-free loans to low-income families for the construction, expansion, and renovation of their homes. The initiative, hailed as a flagship welfare project, aims to improve housing access across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur formally launched the scheme at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister\u2019s House, where he distributed loan cheques to successful applicants. The event was attended by cabinet members Meena Khan Afridi, Muzzammil Aslam, Dr Amjad Ali, and Rangez Ahmad, along with senior officials from the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total allocation of PKR 4 billion has been made for the scheme\u2019s first phase. Eligible individuals aged between 18 and 65 years, with a monthly income below PKR 150,000, can receive up to PKR 1.5 million in interest-free loans. These loans will be repayable in easy installments over a seven-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure transparency and merit, applicants were selected through a computerized balloting system. In the first round, the scheme received 123,000 applications, of which 18,555 met the eligibility criteria. Loans are being distributed across all districts in proportion to their population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief minister described \u201cEhsaas Apna Ghar\u201d as a major step toward addressing the housing needs of underprivileged citizens. He commended the Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber for their role in rolling out the project efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also announced the upcoming launch of a “Solarization of Houses” scheme for deserving households, emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment to transparent and merit-based service delivery. The CM stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had achieved financial stability and would continue to invest in public welfare across health, education, infrastructure, and clean drinking water sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gandapur also highlighted ongoing housing developments in the province, including rapid progress on the New Peshawar Valley project, aimed at expanding access to quality residential facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
