Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reiterated her government\u2019s commitment to ensuring balanced development across the province, declaring that \u201cno city in Punjab will be deprived of the benefits of ongoing development programs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairing a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, the chief minister took stock of progress under the Lahore Development Programme and Punjab Development Programme. The deputy commissioner of Lahore presented a detailed briefing, reporting that 2,593 out of 5,643 projects under Phase-I of the Lahore Development Programme have been completed. Additionally, 2,274 of 3,705 projects under the Lahore Municipal Corporation and 170 of 252 WASA Lahore schemes have been finalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to complete Phase-I of the Lahore Development Plan by November 2025, while also launching Phase-II with 146 projects in Allama Iqbal Town, Wagah, and Aziz Bhatti Town. A total of 1,573 new WASA-related projects are also under review for timely execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A parallel presentation highlighted ongoing infrastructure development in 189 cities under the Punjab Development Programme, with a special focus on repairing deteriorated streets, improving drainage systems, and building water tanks and disposal stations. The chief minister emphasized that 66 cities will be prioritized in the first phase of this provincial initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe model of Lahore\u2019s uplift will be replicated across all urban centers of Punjab,\u201d she assured, highlighting aesthetics, public safety, and sustainable infrastructure as key components of her urban development vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separately, CM Maryam expressed deep sorrow over multiple fatalities caused by roof collapses and electrocution incidents during recent monsoon rains. She directed the immediate removal of hanging electric wires from public areas and called for a comprehensive report on unsafe buildings and evacuation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring specifically to the tragic deaths of five family members in a roof collapse in Thokar Niaz Baig and two children who died of electrocution in Harbanspura, the chief minister extended heartfelt condolences and urged citizens to avoid contact with electric poles, wires, and unsafe structures during the rainy season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
