Lahore: Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin has announced that 2,000 middle-income families will receive free residential plots in the first phase of the provincial government\u2019s Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar<\/em> programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the initiative, all beneficiary families will also be offered interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million to help them build their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a briefing by Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) Director General Sikandar Zeeshan, it was revealed that over 367,000 applications have been received for the scheme. The initial screening process is currently underway, after which plots will be allotted through a transparent balloting process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the district-wise allocation, Jhelum will receive 730 plots, Kasur 388, Faisalabad 257, Lodhran 218, and Okara 130. Layyah will be allotted 55 plots, Bhakkar 52, Sahiwal 33, Sargodha 25, Khushab 24, Bahawalnagar 20, and Rajanpur 15. Mandi Bahauddin will receive 17 plots, Attock 11, Gujrat 8, Bahawalpur 7, Vehari 4, Jhang 4, and Chiniot 2 plots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister said the programme aims to make poor and middle-income families in 19 districts of Punjab landowners, helping them move towards secure housing.
