Karachi \u2013 Pakistan Railways will inaugurate a fully upgraded, state-of-the-art railway station in Karachi on September 10, 2025, as part of the government\u2019s ongoing railway modernization program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said the project aims to enhance passenger facilities, improve freight handling, and strengthen the city\u2019s transport network. \u201cUnder the Prime Minister\u2019s vision, both short- and long-term projects are underway to modernize rail operations nationwide,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Karachi station upgrade is part of a broader initiative that has introduced digital ticketing, operational train tracking, ATMs at major stations, and free Wi-Fi at 40 stations in Punjab, with expansion planned for Karachi, Hyderabad, and other cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By September 30, Pakistan Railways also plans to outsource services for nine to eleven passenger and freight trains, as well as guest houses, special saloons, hospitals, schools, and other facilities. Special saloons previously reserved for officials will be available to the public at affordable rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abbasi added that station cleanliness has been contracted to solid waste companies, while provincial authorities are monitoring food quality.
