Lahore: The Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) will construct 46 kilometers of embankments on both sides of the River Ravi within the next three years to safeguard surrounding areas from flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
River Training Works Project Incharge Rao Intizar Ali shared the update during a media briefing on Monday. He said that embankments already built along a seven-kilometer stretch had protected several villages in Sapphire Bay from floodwaters this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the project is now being expedited on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. \u201cWe have decided to complete 30-foot embankments on both sides of the 46-kilometer river section within three years. The riverbed will span one kilometer,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rao Intizar said the Punjab government has assured full support to RUDA, including assistance in removing encroachments along the river. He acknowledged that earlier delays were caused by land acquisition challenges but noted that directives from the chief minister have resolved coordination issues with other departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
