Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday, approved three development projects and referred four major schemes to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the key projects referred was the land acquisition, compensation, and relocation of utilities for the Karachi-Lahore Motorway (KLM). The revised scheme, covering 959 kilometers of the route and excluding already completed sections of the M-9 and M-4, carries an estimated cost of Rs68.74 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CDWP also sent the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore to ECNEC for consideration. The project, valued at Rs74.92 billion, is proposed to be financed through the Punjab government\u2019s Annual Development Programme. Similarly, the revised Harpo Hydropower Project (34.5MW) worth Rs34.34 billion and the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project (BWRDSP) for Zhob and Mula River Basin, revised at Rs49.90 billion, were also referred to ECNEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the forum gave approval to a revised education project titled \u201cAction to Strengthen Performance for Inclusive and Responsive Education Program (TA Component)\u201d at a cost of Rs1.38 billion. It also cleared the Construction of an 8-lane overhead bridge at Imamia Colony Railway Crossing, Shahdara (N-5) with a revised cost of Rs4.67 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, concept clearance was granted to explore international financing for five proposals, including three agriculture-related initiatives in Balochistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
