Karachi: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant discovery of gas and condensate at the Bitrism East-1 well in District Khairpur, Sindh, according to a filing at the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
OGDCL holds a 95% working interest in the Bitrism Exploration License, while the remaining 5% is owned by Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The well was spudded on June 30, 2025, and drilled down to a depth of 3,800 meters in the Sembar Formation using OGDCL\u2019s in-house expertise. Two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) were conducted on the Lower Goru Formation \u2014 Massive and Basal Sands \u2014 which confirmed encouraging results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The combined production potential of the well is estimated at 22.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 690 barrels of condensate per day (BCD) at a 32\/64\u201d choke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company said the discovery would contribute to reducing the gap between energy supply and demand by adding to Pakistan\u2019s indigenous resources. It also strengthens OGDCL\u2019s hydrocarbon reserves and supports the country\u2019s energy security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
