Lahore: Pakistan\u2019s cement industry posted strong growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2026, with total dispatches rising 16.25 per cent to 12.161 million tonnes, compared to 10.461 million tonnes in the same period last year, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domestic dispatches increased 15.08 per cent year-on-year to 9.573 million tonnes, while export dispatches climbed 20.81 per cent to 2.589 million tonnes during July\u2013September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a monthly basis, cement dispatches grew 31.24 per cent in July and 13.47 per cent in August before moderating to 7.05 per cent growth in September. Total dispatches in September stood at 4.25 million tonnes, up from 3.97 million tonnes a year earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domestic demand in September remained strong at 3.418 million tonnes, a 14.38 per cent increase from 2.988 million tonnes last year. Exports, however, declined 15.25 per cent to 831,966 tonnes compared to 981,646 tonnes in September 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Region-wise, north-based cement mills dispatched 3.162 million tonnes in September, up 16.41 per cent from 2.717 million tonnes last year. South-based mills, in contrast, dispatched 1.09 million tonnes, down 13.23 per cent from 1.253 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the quarter, north-based mills recorded dispatches of 8.672 million tonnes, reflecting a 14.78 per cent increase from 7.555 million tonnes a year earlier. South-based mills posted 3.489 million tonnes, up 20.07 per cent from 2.906 million tonnes in the same period of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An APCMA spokesman said the industry could achieve higher growth if the government reduced duties and taxes, adding that post-flood rehabilitation efforts were likely to drive further cement demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
