Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has finalised a phased schedule to complete ongoing development works in the city, including the underground cabling and beautification of the historic Raja Bazaar and the bustling Commercial Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to officials, the Raja Bazaar project, stretching from Fawara Chowk to Dingi Khoi Chowk, is being executed at a cost of PKR 250 million. The plan includes underground cabling, installation of streetlights, executive washrooms, pedestrian sidewalks, benches, building front renovations, tiled pathways, and uniform shop signage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A similar uplift project worth PKR 170 million is underway in the Commercial Market. In addition, work has begun on the widening, carpeting, and beautification of 14 other city roads, including major arteries such as Holy Family Road, Sixth Road, and Asghar Mall Road, along with several inner-city streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, 16 development schemes are in progress with an allocation of PKR 5,815.70 million. RMC officials said the corporation managed to save PKR 374.69 million, as all contracts were awarded 14 to 35 per cent below the scheduled rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The projects are expected to be completed between the end of this year and the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
