Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the province\u2019s first High-Tech Farm Mechanisation Financing Programme Portal to support farmers, service providers, and agricultural companies in upgrading to modern farming equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the programme, interest-free loans of up to Rs30 million will be provided for the purchase of 12 categories of high-tech agricultural machinery, according to a briefing given to the chief minister by the provincial agriculture secretary. The repayment period for the loans has been set at five years, with a six-month grace period and quarterly instalments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Farmers, service providers, and agri-based firms can apply for these loans directly through the newly launched digital financing portal, making the process more transparent and accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the chief minister said the initiative marked the beginning of an \u201cagricultural revolution\u201d in Punjab, adding that the government was determined to modernise the province\u2019s farming sector and enhance productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials informed the chief minister that the financing programme includes machinery from international manufacturers across several countries, including 27 companies from China, 10 from Turkiye, five from Italy, and others from Japan, the United States, Brazil, Spain, and Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The list of eligible equipment includes wheat combine harvesters, multi-crop and rice planters, nursery machines, rice harvesters, wheat straw balers, maize cob harvesters and dryers, silage harvesters, orchard pruners, air blast sprayers, central pivots, irrigation systems, and high-power tractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme aims to help Punjab\u2019s farmers adopt modern farming methods, improve crop yields, and reduce post-harvest losses \u2014 positioning the province as a regional leader in mechanised agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
