Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has established dedicated cells in each tax office to provide legal and technical assistance to taxpayers who were previously filing manual income tax returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, the move is part of FBR\u2019s broader efforts to fully digitize Pakistan\u2019s tax system and ensure a smooth transition for all taxpayers to the online filing platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FBR clarified that manual filing of income tax returns has been discontinued from Tax Year 2024 as part of the digitization initiative. However, recognizing that some taxpayers may face difficulties adapting to the new system, the board has launched a facilitation drive to support these individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each tax office across the country will now host a dedicated cell to assist former manual filers in completing registration and submitting online returns. The FBR further announced that taxpayers requiring legal aid during the process will be provided free legal assistance through field offices for the current tax year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To accommodate manual filers during this transition period, the FBR has also extended the deadline for filing returns until November 30, 2025, under the powers conferred by Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The board encouraged taxpayers to visit their nearest tax offices for guidance, noting that the initiative reflects FBR\u2019s commitment to building a more transparent, efficient, and user-friendly tax environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
