Multan: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the development of the Multan Avenue project under the provincial government\u2019s \u201cProsperous Punjab, Restored Roads\u201d initiative, marking a major step toward modernizing the city\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The nine-kilometer-long Multan Avenue will be constructed from Sydanwala Chowk to Sahoo Chowk, promising smoother traffic flow, enhanced commercial activity, and improved urban aesthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The foundation stone for the project was laid by Commissioner Multan Division Aamir Karim Khan, who described Multan Avenue as the city\u2019s first modern infrastructure venture aimed at combining civic convenience with sustainable economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Commissioner Khan, the project carries an estimated cost of Rs2.89 billion and is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026. However, the Highway Department has been directed to accelerate progress and complete the project by March 23, 2026, to minimize inconvenience to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure timely delivery, the project has been divided into eight packages, with work being carried out simultaneously by three contractors. The commissioner said the development will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including 206 modern streetlights, 34 monuments, 50 smart parking areas, an 8.5-kilometer service lane, and a 5-kilometer parking zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 14.5-foot-wide green corridor will also be developed along the avenue, complemented by RCC drains, footpaths, a central median, walkways, and a modern lighting system designed to enhance both functionality and visual appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commissioner Khan stated that the Multan Avenue project reflects Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif\u2019s vision of a clean, safe, and modern Punjab. \u201cThis initiative represents our commitment to providing citizens with a dust-free, environmentally friendly, and well-planned urban space,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Multan Waseem Hamid Sindhu, City Police Officer Sadiq Dogar, senior officials from multiple departments, civil society representatives, and members of the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
