Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has established a special cell in Rawalpindi to handle complaints and applications under the Punjab Protection of Immovable Properties Ordinance, officials confirmed. The initiative aims to address cases of illegal occupation of land and property through force, fraud, deception, or other unlawful means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was implemented following directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab and discussed in a high-level meeting at the Deputy Commissioner\u2019s Office, attended by CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani, Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema, SSP Operations, ADC(R), divisional SPs, and assistant commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) has been formed, including senior police and administrative officials. The committee will review complaints, mediate between parties, and forward unresolved matters to a tribunal consisting of former district or High Court judges appointed for a three-year term. The tribunal will issue final directives, including initiating formal trials if disputes remain unresolved. The process also covers cases pending in civil or sessions courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The special cell has been set up at the Deputy Commissioner\u2019s Office to receive applications, and the entire process from submission to final decision is mandated to be completed within 90 days. Applicants must submit property documents, evidence, and details of the alleged occupier and appear in person when summoned by the DRC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee has the authority to seal disputed properties where threats exist or disputes cannot be settled. In cases of false or frivolous applications, legal action may be recommended against the complainant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials said the initiative will ensure swift resolution and legal action in property-related disputes, providing citizens with a structured and efficient mechanism to address illegal property occupation in Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
