Rawalpindi: The Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC) has announced a major initiative to modernise 31 old and densely populated villages across all six districts of the Rawalpindi Division, declaring them as model villages. The project, with a total approved cost of over PKR 3.38 billion, aims to upgrade municipal services and improve living standards in these historic settlements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the plan, residents will benefit from enhanced water, electricity, gas, sewerage, and drainage systems. Streets, lanes, and pathways will be paved, while sanitation services will be strengthened, and washroom culture promoted. The project also includes improved transport links, with dual carriage roads connecting each village to nearby markets and towns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure a reliable water supply at the household level, new tube wells, mini-dams, and water tanks will be constructed. Low-cost convenience bazaars will also be established to serve residents efficiently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contracts for the installation and upgradation of municipal services are scheduled to be awarded through an open auction on December 16. Funds for the project have already been released and it will be executed under the annual divisional development programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The allocation of resources for the districts is as follows: 14 villages in Rawalpindi district will receive PKR 1.36 billion, six villages in Attock PKR 712 million, four villages in Chakwal PKR 535 million, three historic villages in Murree PKR 280 million, and four villages in Jhelum PKR 494 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project reflects the government\u2019s commitment to improving infrastructure and living standards in rural areas, ensuring safe, modern, and sustainable communities for residents across the Rawalpindi Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
