Lahore: The Punjab government on Wednesday imposed a strict ban on all land transfers carried out without proper documentation, aiming to ensure transparency, legality, and prevent fraudulent practices in the province\u2019s property sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Board of Revenue (BoR) issued detailed instructions under the Punjab Land Revenue Act and other relevant laws, stating that no land mutation will be registered or sanctioned based on oral transactions. This applies to sales, mortgages, exchanges, and gifts. Inheritance cases are exempted and will continue to be processed in accordance with existing laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BoR clarified that only transfers supported by a duly registered instrument, as required under the Registration Act, 1908, and the Transfer of Property Act, 1882, will be recognized. Oral claims in non-inheritance cases will no longer be admissible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the notification, Multan Division Commissioner Amir Karim Khan directed all revenue officers to strictly enforce the new rules. The instructions have been formally communicated to deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, tehsildars, and naib tehsildars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commissioner warned that any violation of the ban would result in disciplinary action against the concerned officers under applicable service rules. He described the move as a significant step toward curbing illegal transfers, fraudulent practices, and land mafia activities, while protecting public rights and reinforcing the credibility of the revenue administration system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
