Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that the foundation stone for the Peshawar\u2013Dera Ismail Khan Motorway will be laid in the near future, as the provincial government moves ahead with key road infrastructure projects across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief minister made the remarks while chairing a meeting to review progress on flagship road sector projects, including Swat Motorway Phase II, the Peshawar\u2013DI Khan Motorway and the Dir Motorway. Officials briefed the meeting on the current status of each project and the steps required to initiate construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 365-kilometre-long Peshawar\u2013DI Khan Motorway will include 19 interchanges and two tunnels. The project, along with Swat Motorway Phase II, is planned to be executed under a public-private partnership model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the chief minister directed the relevant departments to begin construction work on Swat Motorway Phase II at the earliest and to resolve all outstanding technical and administrative issues without delay. Swat Motorway Phase II will extend 80 kilometres from Chakdara Interchange to Fatehpur and will feature nine interchanges and seven bridges over the Swat River at various locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the Dir Motorway, the meeting decided in principle that the project would be constructed entirely using provincial resources. The chief minister instructed departments to complete all legal and administrative formalities promptly to ensure the timely start of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emphasising transparency and efficient use of resources, the chief minister said the government was committed to improving connectivity and promoting development, particularly in remote areas of the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
