Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has announced a major relocation of transport terminals in Rawalpindi, shifting Pirwadhai General Bus Stand, all 44 public transport terminals, goods transport terminals, and the Islamabad fruit and vegetable market to locations near the Rawalpindi Ring Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move aims to ban heavy vehicles from entering the city, improve traffic flow, and streamline transport operations. Under the plan, local buses for Rawalpindi and Islamabad will operate from Pirwadhai, with fares ranging from Rs20 to Rs50. Inter-district and Rawalpindi-Islamabad routes will also operate from the terminal, now fully under Punjab government ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The relocation plan, initially approved in 2004, faced delays but is now progressing alongside the completion of the Ring Road from Rawat to Islamabad Airport, with additional sections near Bharakahu to be operational soon.
