Bahawalpur: Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday announced the restoration of 160 historic forts and other heritage sites across the Cholistan Desert, aimed at promoting tourism and preserving the province\u2019s cultural legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made during the prize-distribution ceremony of the 21st Cholistan International Desert Jeep Rally held at Derawar Fort, around 70 kilometers from Bahawalpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by Punjab ministers Mian Kazim Ali Pirzada, Sohaib Ahmed Berth, and Belal Akbar Khan, the senior minister praised the rally participants and the divisional administration for successfully organising the mega sports event in the desert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the government\u2019s focus on cultural and economic development, she said that fairs, festivals, and local cultural activities would be encouraged in various parts of the province to strengthen the regional economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restoration project will cover all forts and heritage sites in the desert region, ensuring that these historical monuments are preserved for future generations and made accessible for tourism development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by Commissioner Musarrat Jabean, RPO Bahawalpur Ghazi Salahuddin, DC Bahawalpur Syed Hassan Raza, and other senior government officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
