He emphasised that the plots are being provided completely free of cost and that beneficiaries will also be eligible to apply for interest-free loans under the complementary \u2018Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar\u2019 programme to construct their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials noted that decades-old, unoccupied PHATA schemes have been transformed into public housing projects under this initiative. While private-sector land in surrounding areas is being sold at rates up to PKR 2.5 million per marla, the government has fulfilled its promise to provide housing to deserving families at no cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plots were allotted through transparent balloting to individuals, including street vendors, shopkeepers, drivers, mechanics, and daily wage earners.
