Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday decided to conduct a feasibility study on introducing 3D-printed housing technology in Islamabad, as part of efforts to promote modern and cost-effective construction methods in the federal capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was taken during a meeting between CDA officials and a delegation of Chinese investors. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and attended by senior officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the details, the talks focused on investment opportunities in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and the introduction of innovative technologies, including 3D-printed housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Randhawa directed the relevant departments to prepare a comprehensive feasibility report on the adoption of 3D-printed construction methods in Islamabad. He said the CDA aimed to encourage modern, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable housing solutions in line with global trends. He also emphasised the importance of technology transfer in any potential collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the Chinese delegation briefed CDA officials on advancements in 3D-printed housing technology and expressed readiness to cooperate in its possible introduction in the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion also covered the expansion of EV charging infrastructure in Islamabad. Officials highlighted that regulations have already been adopted to facilitate electric mobility in the city. Under the new rules, commercial buildings are required to allocate three per cent of their space for EV charging facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CDA Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz informed participants that charging stations would be mandatory at nearly all 138 filling stations in Islamabad. At least one charging point will be required at existing filling stations, while new stations must install a minimum of two charging points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chairman said plans were also under way to establish dedicated EV charging hubs at various locations across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, proposals to introduce electric bikes, scooters and environmentally friendly transport projects, including electric trams, were reviewed during the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
