Lahore: The Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) is expanding its efforts to increase the province\u2019s green cover by developing new parks in key cities and extending its \u201cAdopt-a-Park\u201d initiative across Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmad said on Thursday that new parks are under development in Sargodha, Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi, while planning is underway for recently added districts including Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, Khushab, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujrat, Jhelum, Murree, Khanewal, and Muzaffargarh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The authority is simultaneously rehabilitating and beautifying existing park facilities to improve public access and environmental quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the \u201cAdopt-a-Park\u201d scheme, which was first launched in Lahore, individuals and organizations can adopt a park of their choice and take responsibility for its maintenance. This initiative is being rolled out provincewide to encourage community participation in urban greenery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Ahmad emphasized that PHA is committed to creating a clean and green Punjab, with special focus on beautifying cities in remote districts. The effort aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz\u2019s vision of improving urban environments across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a related development, a meeting of the managing directors of the Sargodha and Multan horticulture agencies was held on Thursday, chaired by Additional Director General Mirza Waleed Baig.
