LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin on Tuesday reviewed progress on the provincial government\u2019s flagship \u201cApni Chhat Apna Ghar\u201d programme, as officials shared updated figures on its province-wide implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The review meeting was attended by Sikandar Zeeshan, Director General of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), who briefed the minister on the performance of the interest-free housing loan initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials informed the meeting that interest-free loans worth PKR 188 billion have so far been disbursed to eligible families across Punjab to support house construction. As a result, more than 87,000 homes have been completed, while an additional 45,000 housing units are currently under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme has so far benefited 133,990 families, with plans underway to extend interest-free loans to around 18,000 more applicants in the next phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The briefing also highlighted that beneficiaries have collectively repaid PKR 9.67 billion in monthly instalments, indicating improved repayment behaviour and contributing to the long-term sustainability of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bilal Yasin said the government remains committed to ensuring access to housing for low-income segments, adding that providing dignified living conditions is a key priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further noted that, on the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, special emphasis is being placed on facilitating women, orphans, and other vulnerable groups under the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
