Islamabad: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has welcomed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board\u2019s decision not to increase property tax in the federal capital<\/a>, calling it a business-friendly and balanced approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood appreciated the CDA leadership under Chairman Sohail Ashraf, noting that instead of raising taxes on existing taxpayers, the authority has opted to broaden the tax base by addressing structural inefficiencies and improving revenue collection mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the decision reflects a practical and growth-oriented policy direction that supports business activity while ensuring sustainable revenue generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mehmood said increasing the tax burden on existing taxpayers could negatively impact business operations, while expanding the tax net would create a more equitable and long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also expressed confidence in the new CDA chairman, saying he would focus on resolving long-standing issues faced by traders in Islamabad\u2019s markets and industrial areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
