Lahore: The Punjab government has started formal planning for the construction of Lahore Ring Road SL-4 following the completion of SL-3, marking the next phase of the city\u2019s road infrastructure expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project has been assigned to the Communications and Works (C&W) Department and the Lahore Ring Road Authority. A high-level meeting on the project was held after approval from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed and attended by senior officials, including the Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, Chairman Lahore Ring Road Authority Safiullah Gondal, NESPAK representatives, and chief engineers. Participants were briefed on the proposed scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the briefing, SL-4 will span approximately 18 kilometres, starting from Multan Road and extending to Nazir Labana (Sharaqpur). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is estimated to cost over PKR 45 billion and will include multiple interchanges, toll plazas, a bridge over the River Ravi, and a modern service area. Land acquisition will also be required, while completion is targeted within two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials directed the preparation of a detailed working paper on technical aspects of the project and sought a report from the Irrigation Department regarding the proposed Ravi bridge. A dedicated working team has also been instructed to be formed, with emphasis on linking SL-3 and SL-4 for seamless connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities said the SL-4 project is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance regional connectivity, particularly benefiting residents of Sharaqpur and adjoining areas. The project has been described as a key step in improving mobility infrastructure in the Lahore region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
