Lahore: The Government of Punjab has reported significant progress under its flagship housing initiative Apni Chat Apna Ghar, with more than 91,000 houses completed and around 42,000 currently under construction across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Provincial Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, the programme has so far distributed over PKR 191 billion in the form of interest-free loans to support low-income families in building their own homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Punjab Housing Department stated that financial assistance has been extended to 135,410 eligible families, enabling them to either start or complete construction work. The minister said the scheme has played a key role in improving access to housing for underprivileged segments of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further noted that the recovery of more than PKR 10 billion in instalments reflects the transparency and financial sustainability of the initiative. Officials added that strong repayment compliance has helped ensure continued expansion of the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The housing minister shared these updates during a meeting with Sikandar Zeeshan, where progress and implementation challenges were reviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to official figures, the scheme has also attracted strong public interest, with more than 1.176 million applications received so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2024 under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the initiative originally aimed to construct 100,000 houses for low-income families, with district-level targets set at over 3,000 houses per district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials said the programme continues to expand steadily, with a focus on addressing housing shortages and improving living standards across Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
