Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Sunday directed authorities to accelerate work on several major infrastructure projects in Karachi and set clear deadlines for their completion, including Shahrah-e-Bhutto and the mixed-traffic lanes along the Red Line corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister\u2019s House, the chief minister conducted early morning visits to multiple development sites, where he reviewed ongoing construction work and instructed officials to ensure both speed and quality. He warned that delays or substandard work would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur priority is to restore smooth traffic flow and provide safe, reliable infrastructure to the people of Karachi,\u201d he said, adding that Shahrah-e-Bhutto and the Red Line corridor are critical transport routes for the city and must be completed without unnecessary delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He announced that the Bhutto Expressway would be opened to traffic before Eid, describing it as a \u201cgift\u201d for Karachi residents. He also directed that all mixed-traffic lanes along the Red Line corridor be completed within two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials, including Secretary Transport Asad Zamin and TransKarachi CEO Zubair Channa, briefed the chief minister on progress and compliance with earlier directives. They said repair, patchwork, and rehabilitation of mixed-traffic lanes were underway, while widening work had begun through adjustments to New Jersey barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief minister expressed concern over repeated waterlogging issues and instructed officials to develop a permanent solution. He also ordered construction work to be carried out in multiple shifts to reduce delays and minimise disruption for commuters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Shahrah-e-Bhutto project, officials said around 93% of the 38-kilometre corridor from Jam Sadiq Interchange to M-9 Kathore Interchange has been completed, with remaining work expected to finish within weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Murad Ali Shah also directed the immediate resumption of work on the Mosamiyat Flyover, stating that funds and resources would be provided, as the project is important for easing traffic on University Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further reviewed progress on the Munawar Chowrangi Underpass, being developed to improve connectivity between Kamran Chowrangi and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, and instructed authorities to expedite its completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Separately, the chief minister inspected the Azeempura Flyover in Shah Faisal Colony and directed that it be completed within 90 days to ensure signal-free traffic flow towards Jinnah Terminal and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials also briefed him on the Pehlwan Goth Road project, which includes a dual carriageway along with drainage, sewerage systems, and LED street lighting, aimed at improving urban infrastructure in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
