Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to expand housing finance outreach under the Prime Minister\u2019s Apna Ghar (PM-APG) Programme, as part of efforts to improve access to affordable home ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed a summary submitted by the Ministry of Housing and Works and endorsed a revised framework aimed at scaling up the programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new structure, the government plans to broaden participation through institutional financing, public-private partnerships, and the inclusion of overseas Pakistanis. The framework also allows non-banking financial institutions to play a role in extending housing credit, a move expected to support the programme\u2019s overall targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a separate decision, the ECC approved the rollout of the second phase of the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Programme under the National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025\u201330. The revised plan includes measures to improve efficiency and uptake, such as enhanced verification systems and expanded access, alongside stronger third-party oversight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The committee also approved multiple Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs). These include PKR 100 million for the construction of the Faiz Ahmad Faiz Complex in Narowal, and PKR 350 million for operational requirements at Danish School Kuri in Islamabad following the start of academic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, PKR 59.624 million was sanctioned to cover expenditures related to Independence Day and Marqa-e-Haq celebrations 2025, while PKR 2.5 billion was approved for the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports to meet operational needs during the fiscal year 2025\u201326.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ECC further allowed gas allocation to National Steel Complex Limited (NSCL) to support the revival of its operations. The supply will be provided for process requirements and captive power generation at applicable tariffs, subject to availability.
