Islamabad: Pakistan has sought enhanced cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for ongoing and planned communication and infrastructure development projects across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A delegation led by AIIB Vice President Konstantin Limitovskiy, along with Director General Xiaohong Wang, called on Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan to discuss priority transport and infrastructure initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the minister stressed that partnership and investment with AIIB were of significant importance for Pakistan\u2019s infrastructure development agenda. He said the government aimed to complete several major transport projects within the next two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abdul Aleem Khan identified the Karachi\u2013Hyderabad and Hyderabad\u2013Sukkur Motorway as a key priority, stating that it would play a major role in supporting economic activity. He said the government would mobilize all available resources to ensure timely completion of the project. He also shared design details, noting that the Karachi Port-linked section would consist of eight lanes, while the Hyderabad\u2013Sukkur section would feature six lanes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further said that the Lahore\u2013Sialkot and Kharian\u2013Rawalpindi motorway projects were also expected to be completed within two years. According to him, the Lahore\u2013Islamabad travel distance would be reduced by around 100 kilometers, resulting in reduced travel time and fuel savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister also announced plans to establish an Air Ambulance Service and modern trauma centers along motorways in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), aimed at improving emergency response facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He extended an invitation to the AIIB delegation to visit completed projects of the National Highway Authority (NHA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AIIB delegation expressed interest in further collaboration with Pakistan\u2019s infrastructure sector and described the visit as productive, adding that they also plan to visit Lahore as part of their engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
