The new alignment is expected to improve road safety by avoiding the steep gradients that have long been associated with accidents, while also providing a more efficient route for heavy commercial traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The M-13 forms part of a broader motorway network being developed to strengthen connectivity across Punjab. Following SIFC&#8217;s intervention, construction on the M-12 Sialkot\u2013Kharian Motorway resumed in February 2026 after remaining suspended since October 2024. Plans are also underway to expand the M-11 Lahore\u2013Sialkot Motorway from four lanes to six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Together, the M-11, M-12 and M-13 motorways will create a high-capacity transport corridor linking Lahore, Sialkot, Kharian and Rawalpindi.
