Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the establishment of the Asset Management Authority of Punjab (AMAP), a new autonomous body tasked with identifying, managing and monetising provincial assets to improve governance, transparency and revenue generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the chief minister on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
AMAP will serve as the central institution for the identification, management, transfer, disposal, valuation, payments and marketing of government-owned land and other public assets across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the plan, the authority will prioritise the identification of government properties with investment and privatisation potential. It will also utilise various financing and development models, including leasing, rental arrangements, public-private partnerships and joint ventures, to maximise the value of provincial assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Minister Maryam directed the relevant authorities to enhance provincial revenue through the sale, lease and collateral financing of public assets. She noted that Punjab previously lacked a single institution to regulate and manage its scattered assets, while government land remained vulnerable to illegal encroachments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the establishment of AMAP would centralise the management and protection of provincial assets under one autonomous authority and welcomed the proposal for its creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was informed that the authority will operate under a governing board headed by the chief secretary, while a BPS-20 managing director will lead its day-to-day operations. Qualified professionals from the private sector will also be inducted on merit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
